Double bass 4-string

This instrument is a fairly faithful copy of the double bass Gasparo da Salò circa 1550 that can be seen on the Strad Magazine poster.

This instrument is always played by the excellent bassist Maxime Bibeau of the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

I installed inside a new acoustic bar of my design (cosmic acoustic bar).

On this copy I realized the same pattern of purflings on the table top and the table back as the original, I redraw the peg, since the original was changed in a long time.

Materials :
The flat table back and ribs are in European flamed maple from the same piece of wood and the neck is European flamed maple.
The two-piece table top is made of European fir.
The interior of the box has the same characteristics as the original. .

Oil varnishes applied by myself. The base layer and the old patina were done by the excellent luthier Martin Héroux www.martinheroux.ca .
